FAQ
Where are the garments made?
Here at Local Ink LLC we try and keep as much of the production as close to home as possible. We do our printing, branding, leatherwork, custom stitching and packing here in Maine with a fantastic team of people in Lewiston, Windham, Scarborough and Portland. The fabrics themselves are woven and assembled overseas.
Where can I buy Local Ink clothing and apparel?
Right here on this website we have all apparel that is currently available for sale. Much of our Woman's line is also available at ZANE on Exchange Street in Portland, Maine.
How does Local Ink give back to the community?
With each purchase we donate directly to the designing artist a percentage of profits for their work. It’s their talent that brings this beauty to the world and we thank them directly and financially. Local Ink is also designed to be a vehicle of promotion for artists by bringing their visuals and name to the community on every garment. For the greater community we also donate 5% after margin to GENART. www.genart.org “Gen Art is the leading arts and entertainment organization dedicated to showcasing emerging fashion designers, filmmakers, musicians and visual artists.”
What is your return policy?
Unwashed, Unworn merchandise may be returned for a full refund within two weeks from purchase. This does not include shipping and we will only credit the credit card used to pay for said item. We also have a 60-day exchange policy for any item demonstrating a defect in manufacturing or assembly.
How does one become a Local Ink artist?
We are always interested in meeting new artists and talking about making the world brighter through the exhibition of emerging talent. There is a standard process though which Local Ink collaborates with its artists to create their lines. With the idea of creating imagery that inspires and motivates the wearer Local Ink is also expanding to new communities so if you are interested in contributing to the cause we’d love to talk to you.
How do I care for my garment?
Love it. Take it out on Fridays. Cuddle with it Sunday mornings. Don’t feed it or get it drunk and when you put in the washing machine keep it in cold water with like colors. If you must use the dryer use a low temp and keep in mind that the leather and cotton react differently to moisture. Do not iron the artwork.
